I have SOMETIMES had this theory that Teddy HATES the left, wouldn't vote for a Kennedy anymore than the REST of us would, and has only led the disgraceful career he has so his battleaxe of a mother-who defaced the earth for over a century-wouldn't DISOWN him. (And finally she kicks off when he's too old to change a life of self-delusion.) It's all very Irish, really. In that light, being a worthless lush is rather understandable.
