Yes, that was the only time in the last 24 years that we were growing more in GDP than we were going into debt.

Reagans "tab"= $1.7 trillion added to the debt
Bush 2's "tab"=$1.1 trillion added to the debt
Bush 1's "tab= $1.4 trillion added to the debt

If you take GDP growth in dollars and subtract growth in the Debt, here's what you get:

reagon -$219.12
bush2 -$452.55
bush 1 -$852.18
clinton +$857.54 (all in Billions)
