Crude Hits Record $43 Despite EIA Data
Wednesday July 28, 11:00 am ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - NYMEX crude oil futures rose to a record high of $43 a barrel despite an increase in U.S. crude inventories amid record imports, as traders worried about supply after bailiffs ordered Russian oil major YUKOS to halt sales.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Wednesday that crude stocks rose in the United States by 1.2 million barrels to 300.5 million barrels amid record imports of 11.3 million barrels per day (bpd).

The $43 per barrel price is the loftiest level in the 21-year history of crude futures trading at NYMEX.
