At our first fundraiser, it was just forty people. Afterward, 35 of them left and I got about 15 minutes sitting in the living room talking to JK about the war, his combat experience and other things. He had no idea who I was but was warm, open and friendly.

It was very interesting because he let on that the British defense minister had told him Bush-Blair were going to war in Iraq no matter what. That was way back in the summer of 2002. I guess Halliburton already had its contract locked up by then and the plans were being laid to use the Iraq War to "steal" the 2002 election, grab huge oil interests and merge Saddam with Osama in peoples' minds. Of course they had to lie to pull that off, but lie they did and invade they did.

Kerry's position was that he wanted Saddam disarmed but wanted us to take our sweet time preparing carefully if we were in fact ever going to invade. This, he said, would save the lives of many of our troops. Instead, Bush did the opposite. Rushed in.

I took part in six early fundraisers and was lucky enough to meet the Kerrys (all of them) and spent some quality time with JK. Once he beat Dean though everything got too big and my services were no longer required.
