That's normal civilian pay for hazardous or remote duty. A long, long time ago I did the remote duty bit. Adjusting for inflation, those numbers are about right. And we had military men at the same location making 10%-20% of what we did.

Funny. A Democrat was President then, too. Why, you'd think a "man of the people" wouldn't allow that, wouldn't you?

Or does economic reality have to be faced? I wasn't a soldier. They couldn't order me there. They had to bribe me to put up with those conditions instead of being comfy in the 48.

"It pays quite well. There's a lot of contracts that pay anywhere from $350 a day to $1,500 a day," said Chris Boyd of Kroll-Crucible Security.

From the CNN Link I posted...means that the range of pay is from $127,000 to $547,000 per year.

How much does a special forces soldier make in the armed forces? Not that much.

And I believe that if you can make it through Blackwater's training program you can make the big bucks...even if you were not special forces when you did your hitch. I wouldn't be surprised if Blackwater would take a guy with no prior military service experience provided he has law enforcement or other background...and especially the desire and the money to spend on the training. Sure they were founded by former special forces folks...but what the hell is the 6000 acre training ground for if it's not to train people on?
