I don't think any of US think any less of Kerry in the "clean room" suit. He did look a little comical, but I think he's a big enough man to laugh at himself.

Neil Armstrong was a real astronaut. Kerry is a pol on a photo-op who ended up looking (and probably feeling) dorky. Quite tame really compared to the hatchet job Moore-on did on GWB.
