Now i will piss off everyone on the thread so here it goes. Was watching kerry come down the river in his boat. I said to my wife. This guys a genius. He is in vietnam driving this boat taking fire and when under fire he points the boat toward the shooter and does a john wayne. Yeah this is the guy i want as president. But to the core of my problem with kerry. Here he is a rich kid against the war so what does he do--he enlists. For us 60s folks thats just plain dumb. Then he goes to war and seeks out combat. He kills other human beings while he is against the war. Now this is a guy who committed a war crime. If you think your country is wrong you have an obligation not to bear arms. Then he comes home from war, sees the political landscape and starts hanging with the worse elements of the anti war movement. I was protesting at the time but knew which groups to steer clear of but not john boy. These are all reasons to vote for this guy. 60s Liberal dems will have to swallow hard to buy this guy. He was the vet they were throwing doo doo at. Bush, Cheney and Clinton did what most of them did--evade and avoid. But kerry wanted to go and kill folks he thought were right. Going out to dinner. Interested in replies. Will kerry lose enuff 60 libs who remember vietnam and are turned off by his spree killling on the mekong or wherever he was. Mike I rambled and ranted deliberately to allow my historical memories to get out. I mean no offense to Unclewest and all who served. Its just that i dont get how kerry thinks. Was he just trying to dupe the JFK resume. Clinton seemed fixated on that when he didnt serve and tried at the end to straighten it out at the draft board. Once i may have dreamed of being pres--a 60s disease in itself and perhaps frittered that dream away when i chose to save my arse.
