Perhaps you should consider what the situation would be today if Saddam was still in power. At $43 oil with Iraqi oil at maximum flow all Saddam would have to do is threaten to stop oil exports and oil would be at $60.

Each year Saddam would have more leverage if he ever managed to get the Russians and French to invest in Iraq's infrastructure.

With the billions earned and untouchable because of his oil he would be nuclear armed in no time and ready to dominate the Gulf area.

WRT Iraq, Oil and WMD go hand in hand.

Jim Willie has seemed to make some reasonable posts,
but when he ridicules precision bombing my opinion has dropped several notches.
The US does not fly B-2's round trip from the Midwest to Iraq and back, non stop, to waste expensive missiles and accumulate near-misses..
