Karen, with 2/3 of the worlds oil located in the Persian Gulf area and considering we are using 1/4 of the worlds daily production we will always be dependent on oil from the Persian Gulf even if we dont burn one drop of it.

Oil prices are set in a global market. Any interruptions in oil flow from the ME will cause the price of oil to rise. If we dont want to pay for our imports then someone else will get them.

You need to learn more about energy, try reading Bog Dog Boom Boom Room for energy related articles. If you expect to live the next 10 years you should not be energy ignorant because it will be a dominant global foreign and economic policy issue.

BAGHDAD, Iraq — A militant group holding two Pakistani contractors hostage said Wednesday it has killed the men and freed their Iraqi driver, Al-Jazeera television reported.

FBI: Tampered Baby Food Contained Poison

IRVINE, Calif. — Two jars of baby food purchased at the same store were contaminated with ground-up castor beans containing tiny amounts of the poison ricin (search).

Police said Wednesday they were looking for a man who may have witnessed the contamination of the jars, which also included notes that referred to an Irvine police officer.
