Hi Dave,

We'll be going to Vegas in about 2 weeks. We usually stay at the Rio, which is where we'll be this time. The Rio is owned by Harrah's, who (IMO) has the absolute best comps program available for its players. It's off the Strip, but every room is a suite, so it's worthwhile to check it out. There's a free shuttle (tip the van driver a couple of bucks per couple for the ride) between the Rio and Harrah's (on the Strip, next door to the Imperial Palace). Or, cross the street from the Rio over to the Gold Coast, and there's a free shuttle between the Gold Coast and the Barbary Coast (on the Strip, across the intersection from Bally's, Bellagio and Caesar's, next door to the Flamingo). Inexpensive transportation is not a problem in Vegas.

We hope to take another Vegas trip in early September to see Robin Williams at the MGM. The Rio is offering us free tickets and comping the room/food, so health permitting, we'll likely go...

It was 108 degrees, but the humidity was a very uncomfortable 27ish%

We've been running about 108 degrees as well, but the humidity levels have been much higher, ranging from about 30% on the low side to around 70% just before the storms hit (which for all intents and purposes brings us to 100% <ggg>)... The dew points have been in the low 60s. All in all, quite toasty and humid for a desert area.
