Hello again, Dave...

We stayed at the Aladdin only once, and that one time was before the big renovation and added mall. I can't recall if we won or lost on that trip, so most likely it was "break even" weekend. I do recall that we only ate one meal there though, because the food and menu was better elsewhere.

Since the renovation though, I really like their coffee shop. For a cafe, they're really top notch now, a 100% improvement over what they were just a few years ago.

We don't gamble there much though.

As for Harrah's comps, free rooms and food is a given, always. We haven't paid for a room in Vegas in a few years now. All of our meals are free at any Harrah's establishment. Many times, they offer free tickets to top name entertainment. For example, last year we went to see Simon & Garfunkel at the MGM, and the Rio picked up the tab, including transportation. Sometimes they offer us free airfare as well. The airfare is usually for Reno, Lake Tahoe or Laughlin, sometimes Las Vegas, and rarely elsewhere (for example, we have a current offer for the New Orleans casino which includes a room at a partner hotel, food and airfare, all compliments of the house). They also tend towards offering "trinkets" at times. I recall last year they were offering his & her watches (can't recall the brand, but it wasn't Timex; the watches were worth several hundred bucks apiece; we didn't use this offer). We also get free tournaments (usually slots or blackjack). Last year I won $1500 in a "second chance" drawing after my wife didn't win one of the major prizes in the tournament. Since Harrah's has now welcomed Caesar's, Paris et al into the corporate fold, we'll have additional choices and offers available quite soon.

By the way, the next best comp card (IMO) in Vegas is the one offered by the MGM, which includes the Mirage, Bellagio and a bunch of other casinos. They just added the Mandalay Resort group of casinos (Circus Circus, Luxor et al) to their corporation, so between the two outfits (Harrah's and MGM), they've got most of the best casinos in Nevada covered...

Hi Dave: I also enjoy Vegas. Going in mid-August - I know HOT, Hot, Hot - but we always go at least once in mid summer and actually enjoy the heat and the pool. We are staying at Bellagio for 3 nights and then at Alladin since they comp me even on weekends and I can't seem to get my Bellagio play up enough to get that rate down far enough to make it palatable. Craps is my game. No more machines for me.
