But when Reagan left office, people felt good about the direction the country was headed. But in 4 years during Bush Sr. term, we headed South. Now it is very convenient to blame Greenspan. But let us not forget the huge deficits that Reagan left behind. The prosperity at the end of the Reagan term was at the expense of the future. Not so during the Clinton era. How is it that he could leave a surplus and at the end of 4 years after his exit we have that much of a deficit? The challenge is to fight terrorism without sacrificing the economic prosperity of our people. For those who say that is not possible, then President Kerry will show them how. As simple as getting the other nations of the world, nations that can afford and are rich such as France, Germany, Russia, India, China, Japan to bear the economic and military cost of the war against terrorism. Bush and his men voted for going it alone and that decision has broken the backs of the American people economically. Not that we are well off militarily either with 2 US soldiers on an average dying everyday. I know pollsters and press have to keep making money and hence they want to project this election as very close. Today people are using the phrase "speech of a lifetime" for Kerry's speech. They want to increase viewership of their news channel on TV. But if you go down to Main Streets of Smalltowns USA, the reading is very different. As I said earlier, I went to vacation in Massachusetts and all my Republican friends are going to vote Kerry, not because Kerry is from their home state but because they know that Bush has failed to meet their expectations. Thsi nations history shows that it is that immigrant spirit, where peopel seek out the unknown when the known is going bad for them. It is that spirit when those folks set sail and discovered this continent and prosperity thereafter that is the prevalent mood amongst the citizens of this country. And that is why they are holding out HOPE and going and voting for Kerry-Edwards.
