It depends on how the left fights. The left is angry, as indicated by Dean and the Zealots. Hopefully, the cooler head of Kerry will prevail. But, if Bush wins, the cooler heads will be shoved aside, and you'll see politics like they have it outside the US (legislators beating each other in Congress, planting of evidence, stealing of elections, etc).

So, Kerry must come up with a formula to win with a positive campaign against a negative one. It must be shown that such a tactic can work; conventional political 'wisdom' is that it is impossible. I personally don't think that Kerry alone could pull it off; he's too dull. But, with Edwards, it is just maybe possible. The precedent that it would send would be tremendous, and send the likes of Rove, Hannity, and Coulter packing...

It is doesn't work, God save us.
