Hi Marcos: there's a faint smell of burnt chicken feathers floating around here... But, hey, I can always open the window.

"We should..." - Appreciate. Still, I think I got a beam in my eyes, I need to take care of first. Or is it flies in my eyes, to quote Catch22...

Re Slovenia and Auckland: I'd suggest a friendly merger, like spreading the Shire to the northern hemisphere. Dimitrij Rupel, the Slovenian foreign minister (hear hear) switched to the opposition a week or two ago! - maybe he's already into it... Have to get Mq introduced to Dim - I played in a R&R band with a his wife's brother. Not only that, my brother was in the same Kindergarten group, I mean Im well connected.

I had heard of that Kennan essay but never read it. Fascinating. So prescient, and yet so wrong. I wish I could ask him questions about it, about his assumptions, especially about Asia and Africa, which seem to be the most wrong-headed in retrospect. Nothing about Latin America, which you probably noticed.
