"There was no conspiracy. "

I never said there was. Florida politics often tend towards the colorful, especially anything that goes on around Miami, the Panhandle is much less so, even comatose. Besides, my brother lives there and I enjoy picking at him.

Texas politics have their own interesting moments, fortunately there hasn't been a nation election that has hinged on them. There was the Duke of Duval, and then the time that the deceased cast their vote for LBJ, in alphabetical order no less. And we've always had a weakness for people with odd names. People used to delight in voting for Jessie James as state treasurer...

Moore to train camera on Florida voting machines

Friday, July 30, 2004 - Page R2

Crawford, Tex. -- More than 3,000 people -- three times more than originally expected -- sat on lawn chairs, pillows or blankets Wednesday night to watch Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 in a rural parking lot close to U.S. President George W. Bush's Texas ranch.

Moore initially said he would come to Crawford and discuss the movie afterward -- and even invited Bush to attend. But on Wednesday Moore decided to remain at the Democratic national convention in Boston. Yesterday, Moore said he plans to take his cameras to Florida on Election Day, amid continuing controversy over voting machines in the state known for its 2000 electoral debacle, the Sun-Sentinel newspaper reported.

"I am committed. I am coming to Florida," the South Florida daily quoted Moore as saying. "Together, we will guarantee to every Floridian that their vote will be counted this year." AP/AFP
