I think we've learned it too dangerous to have a large National Debt because if the time comes when we need to significantly borrow to protect ourselves we could find ourselves in the position of being tapped out and unable to borrow the funds necessary to ramp up production of hundreds of weapons and communications systems. A large National Debt in the face of unknown crises is clearly detrimental to National Security.
