I understand that. I understood that when I first asked the question. I'm not a total idiot, you know. <g>

There is an implication in all of the responses to my question that, were we to get our oil elsewhere, say we miraculously found all the oil we'd ever need in Texas, the ME oil would somehow stop flowing--cause and effect. Why is that? Would all the Arabs quit producing oil out of spite or depression at losing us as customers? Quehubo mentioned that we're the only army that could defend the oil fields. Would some country try to seize the oil fields or the whole ME? And if they did, would our army suddenly become incompetent to stop it? What?
