>>>>>>Well, the last couple of days UBS and Banc of America downgraded the sector. Where were they when the SOX peaked at 560 in January and it was obvious even to me (not a professional analyst) that many semiconductor stocks were overvalued?<<<<<<<< Goldman Sachs got it right and they were not afraid to say, 6 months ago, that the semi cycle was peaking. And I posted those comments here.

>>>It has been a tough market for longs lately

the key word is "lately" and ones time frame

to me the market this year has been just about as good as it ever gets

but that comes from one who has a style that works far better in a market that vacilates rather than one that goes straight up or down

actually this has been my 2nd best year ever
so I for one hope it continues

as I have posted a gazillion times, 100% long, or trying to always catch the "hot" stocks, only works from time to time

most of the time Mr Market will bite the majority view in the ass

fwiw, this year 62% of my trades and 68% of profits have come from the short side

if I had to guess, longer term, a higher market should be in the cards
but for now, changing events, within the US political/economic, and international (read:Iraq and terrorist)may well cause 5-10% macro market pattern swings to continue
