O'Reilly's Moore Show Drew Biggest Audience
Despite the major broadcast networks' decision not to cover Tuesday night's Democratic convention proceedings, 9 million viewers tuned in to watch on alternative venues, with Fox News Channel host Bill O'Reilly scoring the biggest ratings.

"The biggest attraction by far was Bill O'Reilly's hour from 8 to 9 p.m.," reports the New York Times, which says that O'Reilly snagged "just over 3 million viewers" with his showdown with conspiracy filmmaker Michael Moore.

During the 12-minute sitdown, O'Reilly sparred with the left-wing movie man over controversial claims in his movie "Fahrenheit 9/11," challenging him to "apologize to President Bush" for saying Bush "lied" about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
"It's President Bush that needs to apologize to the nation for telling an entire country that there were weapons of mass destruction," Moore countered.

When O'Reilly explained that Bush was, like every other world leader, simply mistaken about Saddam's WMD stockpiles, Moore insisted Bush was lying even if he believed he was telling the truth.

Trailing O'Reilly was PBS with "about 3 million" viewers, the Times said - without noting that the taxpayer-funded network is a broadcast outlet while Fox is limited to cable subscribers.

For the night, CNN had the most viewers overall, with 2.362 million, just ahead of Fox News, which had 2.340 million. 1.4 million viewers tuned in to MSNBC.
