White House Forecasts Record Budget Deficit

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House said on Friday the federal budget deficit will grow to $445 billion this fiscal year, a new record likely to fuel election-year fights about President Bush (news - web sites)'s economic policies.

The figure, released in the White House's mid-session budget review, is well above the 2003 shortfall of $374 billion, which set the previous record in dollar terms. But it is $76 billion below the $521 billion forecast for this year by the White House in February.

Amy, On another note, even for well-intentioned families, what if their focus doesn't match what our American society needs?

I wonder who gets to decide just what American society needs. Seems like for a long time, the Democrats were defining exactly what they thought African-Americans needed, until Bill Cosby set them straight. And of course, Cosby is one of Africa-America's biggest philanthropists.

That's just ca ca........Bill Cosby may be setting the AA community straight but I am one of many liberals who espoused his philosophy long before he opened his big mouth.

Frankly, you need to learn more about both groups.....conservatives AND liberals. Its sounds to me like you've not done your homework.

Hi Tenchusatsu, getting back to some older posts here...

I think the issue is Congress is not represented by blacks, only whites.

Of course one person will be better in such a situation.

RE: China

True, and that's changing quickly. China was #1 in foreign investment last year.

RE: What's your point?

Diversity is better than any one person dictating through a charity. The point is to fix Congress - its lack of diversity, whether that diversity be race or age. Congress thinks 42 years old is very young (a Democrat recently got elected that was 42 and there was a big deal made over how very young she was), so Congress makes decision that essentially ignores input from everyone that's in their teens, 20s, or 30s - which is what? maybe half of the entire USA population? No wonder Congress is bankrupting this country. Not fair.

Regards,
Amy J
