Well, I appreciated the gesture but felt it was unnecessary at the time, given the nature of the forum.

The exact same people have publicly taken my side, and publicly piled onto me, depending on whether they agreed with me or not, and I've always been irritated by the piling on when it's directed at me, so regret it when it's directed at others.

By "piling on" I mean non-substantive messages of support.
