Snow: U.S. economy on the right track By Rex Nutting
WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- The U.S. economy is on the "right path," Treasury Secretary John Snow said in an interview with the CBS MarketWatch radio network on Friday. Snow said he wasn't disappointed by Friday's report that U.S. growth slowed to a 3 percent annual pace in the second quarter as consumer spending slowed. "Spending will be quite strong in the third quarter and the fourth quarter," he predicted. "We'll see continued strength on the consumer side." The important thing is that the economy is heading in the right direction, thanks to the president's tax cuts, he said. "We've had consecutive months of job growth." The American people recognize "the American economy has been through an awful lot."
