The office of the president is bound by oaths that we the people establish and monitor. The president is our public servant and representative. The office of the president is not a “King ship” or a “Dictatorship”. It is a shared responsibility. The person sitting in the oval office is our elected REPRESENTATIVE. Which means no more or less that the word “representative’ connotes. The President represents the position of you and your fellow citizens. Nothing more and nothing less. The President is supported by vast resources of information gathered and condensed into usable form by the most capable group of advisors and cabinate members available in the country. So, when you ask silly questions like “Do you think Bush is really in charge?” I give the only answer possible. Your question is too mysterious … even paranoid. How would I know the answer to that. You may have just as well ask me how I know space aliens haven’t taken over his brain. It is the most powerful single decision making role in our government. However, the office, as mentioned above, is bound by oaths of service to us and the principles on which we stand. In order to exercise the power to rule society a leader recognizes that he/she is imposing their will on others. To gain compliance under the rule of law often requires the imposition of authority over others. A leader is obligated to struggle according to the political platform that supported the election to move society in a particular direction. This, for an honorable leader would be a terrible and humbling experience. For a corrupt leader it would be pleasurable. It is up to us to ensure that the office retains its honorability. You have declared the responsibility “you” have in that to be hopelessly void. Take responsibility for your own position. Stand up for it…. Or not.
