Read Warren Buffett's Nov. 10, 2003, Fortune article, titled "America's Growing Trade Deficit Is Selling The Nation Out From Under Us."

No rational investor will put up with continued losses of that magnitude.

No nation can 'print it's way to prosperity'.

Eventually, the twin structural budget and trade deficits will be addressed by market mechanisms.

IMO, the likeliest outcome is a continued sharp decline in the dollar, 'imported' inflation (just look at the producer price index over the last two years!), and a sustained bout of seventies-style Stag-flation for the economy.
