It wasn't gridlock, it was a concerted effort by Clinton and a good Republican congress to control spending. They did a hell of a job controling the growth of government, and should be congratulated. There is a tendency to dismiss the accomplishment so Bush doesn't look so out of control.

re: I keep hearing the battle will be for the so-called "swing states," but it's hard for me to think that a state that just recalled a Democrat governor stands no chance of voting for Bush.
