I have researched the Vietnam War extensively. Anyone who has knows the atrocities our government didn't tell us about were mindnumbingly numerous and not only numerous but often intentional. Of course this depends on your definition of an atrocity.

The CIA's Phoenix Program was very effective. It used mainly SEALS to infiltrate behind enemy lines and assassinate Viet Cong leaders. Oftentimes in order to terrorize the village, the assassins would be-head or disembowl the victims. This was due to Buddhist beliefs that you cant get to nirvana without your head on. Thousands were killed by Phoenix. Do you consider this an atrocity? This was the kind of thing Kerry was talking about, and he heard about it from the very guys who carried it out. They were all in the same boat.

BTW: I believe in targeted aassassination against guilty enemy combatnats and leaders. So too does Kerry I'm sure, though he may not talk about it publicly. If someone had killed Saddam we could have avoided this costly invasion and occupation.
