I suspect that you would be willing to admit that in the Sudan, the people who kidnap little children from their parents and turn them into slaves are evil, but far be it from me to say that you need to admit it, or even should admit it.

You are a volitional individual, I can't force you to agree that slavery is evil, or that Jefferson was morally not just wrong but reprehensible to own slaves when he, himself, considered slavery to be morally wrong.

He did not own slaves because he enjoyed hurting them, but because he loved the nice things that he could do with his money, the nice station in life that their labor gave him. Not much of an excuse in my opinion.
