Gardner is a liar. The deaths were because he shot without being ordered to. Kerry was furious.

Gardner murdered the kids in Nam and tried to blame Kerry even though he's the one who did it. That's the real story. right out of PLATOON with Gardner being the bad guy. So he goes running to Rush Limbaugh to tell his lies. Maybe he needs to believe Kerry is to blame to assuage his guilt. But the man is a mental case, very unstable and has no credibility.
