Neither Bush nor Cheney has ever questioned Kerry's patriotism or his service, just very much his convictions (or lack thereof) and his qualifications to be President.

Kerry is presently making a ludicrously overwrought attempt to wrap himself in the flag. Attack him on anything - say he always takes stands on both sides of every major issue, voted against every weapons system that ever came up before the Senate, spent 4 terms as a lacklustre backbencher with no bills to his name - and the answer is the same: "how dare you criticize me? I saw combat in Vietnam! That uniquely qualifies me to be President!"

Sorry, people have more sense than to buy that line.
