It's interesting that it seems "ironic" to you when Kerry supporters lie. When Bush supporters lie there is no irony there at all.

The massive lying in US politics ramped up under Nixon then really get going under Lee Atwater; Gw Bush's political guru who was the king of dirty tricks wedge issue divide-smear-and-conquer politics for his father.

During the Clinton years, the rabid jealousy of the rightwingers made them take this dishonest dirty tricks stuff to an all-time high, even getting a special prosecutor to investigate the president's sex life (amazing, shocking but true) and charging the Clintons with rape, murder and drug-running.

However the worst of all has been under Bush-Cheney and after 9-11, as the extreme right seized an opportunity, the terrorizd population, to try and lock down quasi totalitarian rule. Instead of being humble, the rightwing operastives and radio geeks went ballistic, basically calling anyone who disagrees with the far right a "traitor". That was just plain dishonest, ugly and un-American.

Now we have the backlash. But the rightwing can only dole it out, they cannot take it. They attack Michael Moore but won't admit that they actually created him as a necessary counter-balance.

Oh, and also, Bush was not fairly elected. He didn't even win. That illegitimacy hangs around his neck like an albatross. Yet again, instead of being humble, Bush has acted like an arrogant dictator. Every four years though he puts back on the "compassionate" mask.
