Jim, There may be some swing voters lurking on this thread. You wouldn't want to offend them with any negative remarks about Kerry.

So he was not in a position to finagle a way out of Viet-Nam. I would say getting your poppy to arrange for you to jump ahead of 500 other people who were trying to join the TANG as being in a position of finagling a way out of Vietnam. Especially when the group you finally get in has planes which won't be called into service in Vietnam. Especially when you check the box which says you refuse to volunteer for service in Vietnam like junior did. Junior finagled his way out of Vietnam. Then went AWOl when he got tired of playing weekend warrior. John Kerry served 12 months off the coast of Vietnam then volunteered to serve on a swift boat. In 4 months on the swift boat he was decorated several times and earned 3 purple hearts. This makes 16 months total. He came back a war hero. Junior disgraced himself by going AWOL. ________________
