One of my sisters and her husband are Buddhists, he converted to Buddhism back in the late 1960s, there was a lady in New Orleans who said she was an avatar, her name was something like Kumi Matreya. Before she realized she was an avatar, she was an ordinary housewife. The followers all seemed like nice people having a good time, but I am not a joiner.

I think Buddhism is cool, every so often will read something about it. But then, I like to read a lot of weird stuff. Tibetan Book of the Dead. Old Indian stuff like Bhagavad Gita. Norse myths, Greek myths, American Indian myths. All the way from astronomy and alchemy to zoology and zeugmas.

I think once you get really serious, you realize you don't understand anything, probably never will, and just try to sit back and enjoy it while it lasts. So non-attachment isn't my first impulse in life.
