Life is too short to give in to fear. I agree with what I think you mean. Staying strong-minded and continuing to function well. I consider fear a very good thing. Fear sharpens the senses, provides extra adrenalin for additional strength, but it is very situational. All of us experience some degree of that at various times. Most of those who are equipped to handle/manage the event causing the biologic reaction to fear will usually do well. Those who are not so equipped will usually flounder helplessly.
