After I heard about the various idiocies the local school systems were planning I told my kids to listen to me, not to them. But only the 16 year old is still in public school.

One of the more moronic things I heard was putting them all in one room and taping up all the ventilation sources.

When this first started, I bought masks that would filter out particles bigger than one micron for both boys and my husband and myself, and made the boys keep theirs in their backpacks and my husband keep his in his trunk. Mine is still in my car but they just laugh at me these days.

may very well find an empty school and not have any idea where their kids are.

They want us to stay home, not go pick up the kids or go anywhere. Seems to me it works very well for what they want it to do. Which is not necessarily the same as what you or anyone else might want it to do.

P.S. I had a dental appt on K Street that I rescheduled with a neighborhood practitioner. So glad I won't have to deal with whatever orange alert entails. It's enough of a hassle going downtown under the best of circumstances.
