First, I personally have read the Baghavad Gita and Upanishads, the Quran, the Analects of Confucius, and numerous Buddhist sutras, often more than once, among other primary and secondary texts on Asian philosophy and religion.

Second, I was neither calling anyone a "savage", nor making a sharp East/West distinction. After all, I do not think that science per se existed in the ancient world, including Greece and Rome. I consider China and India to have developed high civilizations.

It is tiresome to play the role of strawman.
