Why can you not apply the same thing to China? Why did the Chinese thing fizzle? Furthermore, Russia is no better off today economically. Rampant corruption, mobster manipulation of their economy etc. It is freedom which is important. The Reagan arms buildup and the Iraqi war is also breaking the economic fabric of the US economy. The wages are down and the prosperity index (I don't want to look at it as a poverty index since we always look optimistically to the future) is significantly lower than what it was during the Clinton era. The unemplyment benefits have run out but the tax cuts continue to flow to those making 200,000 and above.
