So if Al Qaeda are in the US, you would then argue that there is a link between the US Gov't and Al Queda? Surely even you cannot believe that somehow the Al Queda cells in the US have escaped GW Bush's notice

If you showed me that the CIA is working with the AQ units to prepare a terrorist war, that would be a parallel case.

Saddam ran a police state, and he can say to his credit that few of his many enemies managed to run much of anything in Iraq when he was there. He controlled the borders, he controlled the population, he controlled the secret police, anybody he even had suspicions of disappeared and was never seen again. George Bush is President of an open democratic society, which, as you really don't seem to understand, is a wee bit tougher to police efficiently. The fact that prepared AQ units and prepared Ba'athist units surfaced last summer fighting joint operations, should really give a clue to anyone with eyes in his head that they weren't exactly perfect strangers before we invaded.

The 9-11 commission didn't find one

The 9/11 commission did find links between Saddam and Al Qaeda, just not joint operational planning for the 9/11 attacks, which was what they were investiating.
