KB, I agree 100% that our system is completely arcane. I'm absolutely in favor of the VAT or 5% flat tax (just a figure pulled out my). This sort of change would be an easy sell if we could have an HONEST debate, but we know that won't be the case. My hope is that the President can make this tax issue and real Social Security reform a reality in his second term. tank
