No, no, no Sioux, IMO that is not the reason. He wants to tell people that the terrorists are after him and hence attract some sympathy votes. He also wants to send the benign message that the terrorists are after him since he is beating the shit out of them but they do not care much for Kerry since "he is a wimp". That is the message Bush wants to send out, IMO.

The Bush campaign realizes that only FEAR will get GW elected now. So the more terrorist alerts the better. Problem is, if the danger's not real, they'd better not turn into boys who cried wolf like they did in Iraq or else the real threat will not be taken seriously. Today's threat is suspicious but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
