I wonder what Ron Reagan thinks when he hears people blaming his father for human rights abuses that occurred during his presidency? I wonder if he thinks "yeah, the old man was personally responsible when those Contras mistreated those Sandinistas"? Not talking about the war so much as an assumption on my part that some Contras did abuse some Sandinistas, and vice versa, no doubt. If my Dad was the President, and someone who worked for the US military deliberately hurt a civilian, blaming Dad would not be the first thing that came to my mind. And, by extension, I wouldn't even blame Clinton (whom I despise) for human rights abuses that occurred while he was President, unless there was clear and convincing evidence that he either ordered it, or knowingly looked the other way. But that's just me. There's a long and honorable tradition of blaming the President for everything because "the buck stops there."
