MediaCom & TresCom Enter Access Agreement

PhoneMiser Will Increase Traffic on TresCom Network

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 1998--TresCom International Communications
(NASDAQ:TRES - news) announced today that it has reached an agreement with MediaCom that will increase traffic on
TresCom's network. Effective immediately, MediaCom's PhoneMiser users throughout the entire United States may connect
to various Caribbean, Central American, South American and other international destinations via TresCom's
telecommunications network.

TresCom has been aggressively expanding the capacity of its network and infrastructure, especially throughout Latin America
and The Caribbean. Kristen Martin, TresCom Director of Marketing, said ''This agreement will increase traffic and enhance
utilization of our extensive Latin American network. It will produce revenues from callers all over North America that our
traditional niche marketing efforts might not otherwise reach.''

PhoneMiser is a new service that can be purchased in any of 2000 retail outlets nationally including Staples, Office Depot,
CompUSA, Office Max, Best Buy and Egghead. Via ''Least Cost Routing'', callers using the service will automatically be
connected to TresCom for many international destinations. In addition to the retail outlets, PhoneMiser can be purchased by
downloading the software from www.phonemiser.com and the hardware or software versions are available by calling
1-888-THEMISER.

Mr. Robert Pokress, MediaCom President and CEO said, ''We only execute agreements with high quality phone companies.
We are especially pleased to have joined forces with an emerging international carrier the caliber of TresCom.''

TresCom is one of America's fastest growing facilities-based international communications companies with service to more
than 230 countries. While building its network worldwide, TresCom specializes in the dynamic and profitable Caribbean and
Latin American markets and strategically has secured an equity position in every major submarine fiber optic cable serving the
