There was a bounce after last week's Democratic National Convention. But it went to President Bush, not John Kerry.

Democratic National Chairman Terry McAuliffe predicted before the convention that Kerry would jump to a lead of 8 to 12 percentage points afterwards. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who chaired the convention, forecast a bounce of 5 points.

46% Say Kerry is Liberal

A Rasmussen Reports survey shows that, following the Democratic National Convention, 46% of voters believe that Senator John Kerry is politically liberal. That's up from 43% in a survey conducted just before Kerry's convention speech.

Following the speech, the number viewing Kerry as politically moderate dropped from 41% to 38%. This movement...clearly indicates that the Convention failed to move perceptions of Kerry towards the political center...

What a disaster. The guy obviously failed to take advantage of his greatest opportunity. Now he is paying for it.
