JDN, did you see where the SEC found that Cheney's company was in compliance with GAAP, when the changed a material accounting method, to another method, and neglected to tell anyone for 18 months about the accounting change.
Since you are a retired CPA, would you consider that a corporation that published their year end financial statements, and didn't disclose a material accounting method change in the footnotes, to be in compliance with GAAP?
The SEC did fine the CFO 50,000, but I believe that was for not submitting documents timely.
Now what kind of message is that going to send to corporations that choose not to disclose a change of accounting method which would mislead investors? Now try and put on your professional hat, and not your partisan hat.
