given the fact that he had served honorably. In 1971, Kerry not only said others had committed crimes, but that he had as well. Crimes not consistent with the Geneva Convention. Kerry served, but by his own words, I question if he thought his service was honorable.

Hannity replayed Kerrys actual words of 1971, while he and General Tommy Franks were at a booksigning for General Franks new book..."American Soldier."

Vietnam vets against kerry cannot offset the kerry swift boat crew who were there with him in battle.

I disagree. The thing that finally helped Kerry, a vague figure to me, snap into focus, was hearing Admiral Zumwalt's son relay what Zumwalt, Kerry's commanding officer, had to say about his service.

Zumwalt's assessment of Kerry was, "He requires constant supervision." If you've ever supervised another human being, you know that this is the worst thing you can say about a worker.

When you supervise people, you learn a lot about them that isn't immediately apparent. No matter how intelligent, no matter how affable, even brilliant, if you have to watch them constantly, they're essentially worthless.

I'm curious to know whether the swift boat vets who still love Kerry ever amounted to a hill of beans themselves. The ones who hate him appear to have been pretty successful in life.

What are you talking about. Support from his Swift boat crew is down to one. Perhaps you haven't looked at the Swift Boat Veterans web site lately?

swiftvets.com

Kerry's "weakness" is not his military service in VN, his weakness is his behavior afterwards....in the 70s.....and his abysmal voting record in the Senate regarding defense and intelligence, so you're right, republicans should and will use it against him. No one is denying his service, and for once, I'd like to see one example of where someone (outside of the wonks who post on SI) said Kerry doesn't deserve respect for his service to our country.....just one.

I don't know of many families of POW/MIA that support Kerry. Did some come out during the convention, or before, or after that I missed?

These family members aren't too enthused about the guy.
powmiafamiliesagainstjohnkerry.com

So what was it about his record on the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs was it that impressed you?

His tone and demeanor are also a weakness.

Between him and his wife, they each constantly remind us of the nasty elitist monkey sitting their backs. Look at some of the contentious things Terry says (shove it) and the support she gets from John (by calling protesters "goons") when she does. And the Hollywood crowd that call people all sorts of disgusting names, create propagandist "documentaries" and use props to demonstrate their hatred for the president and republicans in general because they happen not to agree with their pov. Find me information where you've seen these kinds of tactic used by conservatives to destroy a political opponent.....please.

Common folk don't like to be led by belligerent elitists.

I know there are other important issues that need to be debated, and I look forward to those debates, but I believe it will come down to which one of them is perceived as being more capable of leading our country during a time of war.

If Americans haven't learned by now that we are in danger, or learned the lesson of the past regarding our defense, then they deserve what they get.

I hope that there are no vietnam vets there

That is insulting.

If no one pays attention his obscession with vietnam will begin to negatively effect him and he/we will be forced to confront his mediocre senate career where his only achivement relates to MIA and recognition of vietnam

Would you care to cite one thing Kerry did for MIAs except shut down searches and withdraw funding for those doing the searches?

I do agree with your...Kerry is obsessed with Vietnam. It is Kerry who reported for duty last week. It is Kerry who rode a boat to the hall. It was Kerry's phony homemade nam movies that you watched on tv. It is Kerry who talks about nam incessantly every day.

OK. Kerry wants to talk about the nam, so be it. We have several million vietnam vets who want to talk to him about the nam too.

Without nam Kerry has nothing to run on except his 20 years in the senate. I will be quite happy to give him full credit for everything he did and did not do as a US Senator.
