Iraq on the ground is nothing like vietnam is true. Its the way we are fighting it that is similar. Its a smaller scale 6 dead/day death trap for our soldiers. Crush the bad guys or declare victory over saddam despotism, say we are satisfied that wmds dont exist anymore and let the iraqis settle the tribal and religious score in their primitive and barbaric way. The South will live on as a shiaa state, hopefully more moderate than iran, with the support of both the US and Iran. The Kurds have earned their homeland in the North but still might have to fight the sunni arabs to keep it. The Turks must be read the riot act in such a case so they dont meddle in troubled waters. We see things alike Gina in reality. There are four ways to go--the current way, the biden-kerry way which is to add troops, the use of our current force to violently take out the terrorists or the declare victory and turn over the keys strategy i have put forward as an idea. I think the last two may work. Adding forces without the will to commit them to kill the terrorists will cause more problems at this point than it will solve. And to see the current situation thru rose colored glasses is a grave mistakes imo. For over a year now we keep extending the time frame. Its only three weeks into it. Its only three months. Its only one year. etc etc. I dont want to wake up prior to the 2008 election in this boat. That would be a disaster for this country and a disaster in the larger more important WOT. mike
