a little raft to use as a floating dining room

Cool, very cool!

But, I see some vital infrastructure in the background of your photos. Tsk tsk. Careful where you point that dangerous tool of yours next time, lest the floating homeland security forces nail your butt! ;-)

That's pretty neat, but what is it anchored to? Do they live next to the water and have this as a sort of floating dock, or does it actually float around on the loose? Scary thought!!

Reminds me of a diving raft that my dad built when we were kids. We had a cottage up on a large river here. The raft was chained to a huge block of cement on the bottom of the river, but if we got a bad storm (and we did get more than a few of those), sometimes the raft would break loose and go way down the river. The few times that this happened, I got the job of going downriver to tow it back with my little wooden dory with a 3 h.p. motor. The raft could get way down the river in a matter of minutes, but it would take me more than a couple of hours to tow it home again! Funny memories. (-:
