The current price of energy is not due to lack of supply it's due to mindless increasing demand, and of course, it's bankrupting us. It was the main reason stocks tanked in 2000 and why we've had such a Hoover like economy during the President Bush's nap time.

Just like a family on a fixed or diminishing income that spends wildly we've spent our extra money on oil. And we've spent lives protecting the profits of people in the oil business.

All we have to do is decrease our consumption by a few percentage points to create a glut.

For instance if our consumption = 110% of the total output then reserves are quickly diminished and they the OPEC Dictatorships can charge anything they, want, and make cushy deals with our politicians. Obviously to be beholden to dictatorships like Saudi Arabia for our energy is a terrible idea. Unless you do a lot of Business with them like Bush and other Admin members.

Conversely if we decrease our consumption and use only 90% of the output then reserve storage areas quickly become glutted. OPEC nations fight for our business by lowering prices and even cheat on quotas in order to maintain the cash flow they've gotten used to. Our balance of debt payments decrease and the quality of life for average Americans goes up. Of course the quality of life for those at the top goes down. One less Roller in the garage, what a sacrifice!

This is just simple economics that the idiots in the Bush administration, for all their "supply and demand" rhetoric don't understand or give a crap about or actually try to sabotage in order to fatten profits for companies like Halliburton or the Carlyle group.

The idea that opening up our strategic reserves is also mindless. They are there for a national emergency not because some idiot republican governor's idea of fun is driving a giant pollution spewing humvee that gets 5 miles per gallon.
