The American People know Bush has mismanaged the economy. Mostly, fiscal conservatives know. They are appalled.

- if people want health care, then they get it only if they sign a document saying they will exercise one hour a day (if they are handicapped, then a modified agreement), and if they maintain the weight range appropriate for their height.

And what if they don't...they die without care? You can't legislate these things. Why should there be a SS safety net, and not a healthcare one? How about smoking, drinking, watching too many hours of TV? Should they be illegal?

It's funny, the right is accused of pushing morals on everyone, so I guess you could accuse others of forcing salads and exercise on everyone <g>.

if people want soc sec, then they need to sign up for a govt forced retirement plan (not to be confused with fica) that's 10% of their income, where it's stored in a brokerage account just like an IRA they can't touch.

No problem with that, except it should replace FICA. If everyone did this, what would be the need for standard SS again?

Brian

Hi American Spirit,

My hope is we get a different system - where deficits are considered bad.

Amy, I don't believe the diagram you posted is talking about gov't debt but rather consumer debt. In other words, people are out of control with their credit cards.
