John McCain is upset that his friend John Kerry is being attacked by a 527 group? Where is John McCain when Bush is being attacked by Soros and Moveon.org?

Not surprising that Senator McCain would condemn the negative campaigning.

Many of the same people who mounted the attacks against him in the Presidential primary, who were responsible for that episode of gutter politics just before the South Carolina primary, are associated with the 'swiftboat vets' attacks.

The first public-relations consultant for the group --- paid $27,000 this spring, Merrie Spaeth, of Texas --- was also involved in the advertising campaign attacking Senator John McCain during his tough race against Mr. Bush in the 2000 primary in South Carolina.

Tax documents show that from April to June, this group collected $158,750 from 11 people... but that $100,000 of it came from one Bob J. Perry, a Houston developer who is a major contributor to Republican campaigns.

It's a very Texas-centric campaign, propped-up behind the scenes by many of the same folks responsible for the scurrilous attack dog tactics used to disparage McCain as 'unpatriotic'.

I'm sure he couldn't help but notice.
