I think that the reason is because McCain himself has been a victim of a distortion of his record during the Republican primaries in 2000. That is why he does not want anyone to run down heroism and bravery. I am sure Sen. McClellan also feels that way. These heroes of Vietnam (not those Swiftboat folks) are heroes and veterans first, politicians after that. They will do everything possible to ensure that those before us who rewarded them for their service are not questioned for their decision to award them. And we need to at least respect those who awarded these medal to them some 30 or so years ago.

McCain was slandered by the same gang of creeps in 2000. Bush ought to be ashamed of himself letting his operatives go around slandering war heros of both parties just because own military record is so shameful.
